U.S. Port Security

In light of the recent news that a contract for the security of several of our maritime ports is about to be awarded to a company owned by the United Arab Emirates, the New York Christian Coalition is calling on the Congress to pass legislation prohibiting any such outsourcing of American Security.

This is a classic case of the fox watching the hen house. It doesn’t make sense on its’ face. Though some have called for further investigation, and questioning of this government-owned company, we believe it doesn’t matter how squeaky clean the company may appear, it still presents an unacceptable potential threat to our security. Yes, there are several questions to consider: Why would the U.A.E. want to purchase a British company that was responsible for our port security? What will Al qaeda do when they hear the U.A.E. will be in charge of our port security? Isn’t it only logical and consistent with their character that they will find a way to infiltrate such an operation and use their access to harm us? Doesn’t it also make sense that one cannot logically expect individuals from another country to place our security above their own interests?

Our security must be provided exclusively by Americans. If there are no American companies available to do it, let the department of Homeland Security provide it, -after all, that’s what their name suggests! Anything else must be categorically rejected on principle.
